Job Title:
Vice President / Senior Director of Reimbursement Programs
Purpose Of Job: This position has the authority and responsibility for the strategic planning and tactical implementation in the development of US and International reimbursement and health policy programs. Responsible for developing specific strategies to assist providers in establishing coverage with private payers; including customizing the message for key payers regarding clinical outcomes, economic outcomes and impact for the payer given its subscriber base; work with providers to implement solutions.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the strategic and tactical reimbursement program for U.S. initiatives
- Refine coverage policies of Medicare and private payers to include new applications and new technologies for both hospitals and physicians
- Track & trend coverage policies, payment policies and collection analyses of U.S. payers for both hospitals and physicians
- Interact with Medicare and private payers, hospitals and physicians, customers
- Research and document coverage and payment policies for all regions and major private payers, nationally, regionally and locally
- Determine alternative mechanisms for funding procedures where there is no coverage before formal reimbursement is achieved
- Direct formal application for coding and coverage with Medicare and private payers where necessary
- Develop health technology assessments and theoretical economic assessment models to support coverage applications
- Develop comparative cost and payment models vs. other treatment modalities
- Develop medical necessity justifications for physician payment support
- Develop influential health economic analyses, including budget impact analyses, cost effectiveness and cost utility studies vs. other standard treatments and other modalities
- Provide in-house and field-based support and assistance to hospitals, physicians and their support staff in the reimbursement process
- Partner directly with Sales & Marketing to execute coverage and coding policies to implement
- Monitor and report reimbursement trends internally
Education Requirements:
- Advanced BS degree or equivalent experience
- MBA/MPA degree preferred
- Emphasis in Life Sciences, Medicine, Health Economics or related field ideal
Experience Requirements:
- Proven track record developing reimbursement and health policy programs
- Minimum of 6 years of clinical or clinical research activity
- Minimum of 6 years of health economics and/or medical reimbursement experience
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Qualifications / Experience:
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and office skills
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills; strategic planning and tactical implementation skills
- Domestic and International Clinical Research/Reimbursement knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of GMP and applicable Quality System Standards; regulatory submission and experience
- Ability to perform activities to support product development, administration, manufacturing and other activities as identified by Senior Management
